Are you fucking kidding me?!

No, really, are you fucking kidding me?!

In a two-term helping of outright lies & BS, Cheney's self-assessment of why W's second term has flailed from before the 2005 inauguration, is absolutely one of the most selfish, arrogant, truly vile in it's absolute coldness towards the lives of those he doesn't know or care about, statements to come out of this Administration, right up there with Rumsfeld's "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had" reply to a soldier who selfishly asked just why US troops should have to scrounge through landfill to uparmor their humvees.

Cheney concedes failure to boost backing for war

Vice President Cheney admits the administration fell behind the curve in the debate over Iraq last year, allowing its adversaries to attack current policy without an adequate response and focusing on other issues.

Neither Cheney nor President Bush plans to make that mistake again. In an interview with U.S. News, Cheney said, "You do have to keep a sustained campaign going. There's no question about it. Last fall, obviously, there were a lot of other items on the agenda. We went through the whole exercise with Katrina and the hurricanes and disaster relief and so forth that was, I suppose, a bit of a distraction. But it is important to try to maintain public support for what we're doing out there."

Excuse me?

So Katrina was an "exercise" was it?

NOT a disaster of so much unnecessary & still-unrepaired/unreplaced damage, with over 1000 dead, people who died because the President froze & stayed on vacation for 3 days after New Orleans drowned & people died, instead of showing the strong, decisive leadership he claimed in multitudes of scripted "public" settings

An "exercise", "a bit of a distraction". eh?

Cheney's mindset, while not a surprise considering the Administration he sets policy for, is still unsettling for his inability to notice that the lives of people he doesn't personally know actually do matter, they do make a huge damn difference in a far more positive way for this world than Cheney ever could or will

Lots of dead, maimed & traumatized Iraqis

Lots of dead, maimed & traumatized US Troops

God, the gall of that flat-affected statement, the absolute hubris of a ChickenHawking Engineer of War, yet another Administrative official who takes no note of the lives under the helmets & behind the trigger for the US forces in both Iraq & Afghanistan

Cheney's another one of those officials who had no problem deliberately sending US Troops into battle underequipped with enough effective body & vehicle armor, something that's indefensible from either a logical or ethical perspective

With that mindset, it's no wonder Cheney put up no resistance to the idea of using Torture as an official US policy of interrogation & investigation, it's no wonder he can so blithely insist that the only way to keep the US public safe from another terrorist attack is to restrict even more of our former freedoms.

The idea of acknowledging anyone's suffering is absolutely alien to this VP, as is the idea that more loyalty is owed to the country & the Constitution than the current DC regime he's profited so handsomely from, while simultaneously insisting on untrammelled rights for THIS Administration to grant itself at any time

What the dwindling-by-the-hour-true Bush Jr believers haven't understood yet, apparently, is that at some point, those they despise ideologically will control the various levels of DC political power

For all their safe-from-the-sidelines Administrative shilling & lackeying, the true Bush lovers fail to see how their own efforts-especially the Patriot Act & secret warrantless searches conducted on purely domestic based electronic communications-have made it much easier to use their own dark impulses against themselves & their various pet causes in the future when a liberal controls the White House and/or liberals control either the House, the Senate, or both

Let's see if these same lovers of unrestricted Presidential powers agree with those same policies when it's a liberal President seeking access to the membership rosters of various Pro 2nd Amendment groups & individuals, or an in-depth & detailed IRS look at the finances of various Rightwing theologies, churches, Priests, Pastors, Ministers, & Rabbis ala a secret, warrantless search of said targets

Watch how quickly the shrill, hypocritical squealing begins with yet another reprise of the Ever-GOP popular mantra "poor little us, the picked-upon & put upon GOP" self-martyrdom of the most base kind

Oh yeah, I'm glad to personally say that the following is something I can lob back at Cheney here, as I actually found an interesting article about just why Cheney's efforts haven't done the trick turning public opinion around about either the President or W's Iraq MeatGrinder Crusade

On the road stumping for the administration's Iraq policy, the veep says he gets a good reaction almost wherever he goes. "I find when I get out around the country and talk with people about it, that most of the ones I interact with are very understanding and very supportive. That doesn't mean, obviously, that everybody agrees with the policy. Clearly, there are a number of folks who don't. But I think if they have time to think about it, presented with the question, 'Do you think we ought to immediately withdraw from Iraq?' I think the vast majority of Americans would say no."(US News)

So, speaking of those who don't agree with his Iraq policy, how would Cheney try and positively spin this public bitchslapping-by way of almost dead silence, at yet another pre-digested & scripted/staged "public" appearance in front of only Administrative believers, operatives & voters?

And even weirder, does Cheney REALLY think what he witnessed with his own eyes regarding US training of Iraq security forces can overcome a vicious & clever insurgency via it's "Power Of Positive Thinking" approach to international sticky wickets of its own creation?

From my original post HERE

Shouts of "hooah!" from the audience interrupted Cheney a few times, but mostly the service members listened intently. When he delivered the applause line, "We're in this fight to win. These colors don't run," the only sound was a lone whistle.

His next visit was to Taji Air Base, where he saw tanks that Iraqis had rebuilt and watched while they practiced a vehicle sweep at a security checkpoint.

U.S. forces guarded Cheney with weapons at the ready while Iraqi soldiers, who had no weapons, held their arms out as if they were carrying imaginary guns.

"The Syrian border is back under Iraq control now," U.S. Lt. Gen. Marty Dempsey told the vice president, pointing to a map of Iraqi troop locations. "When people say, 'When will Iraq take control of its own security?' the answer truly is it already has."

Great, I suppose the Iraqis next lesson will be the ever popular "Point Your Finger At The Suicidal Insurgent, Go Bang, Then Wish For It To Work" approach of security/military training
