So, the Administration has laid out it's detailed propaganda about how W's no-longer-secret wiretapping without a warrant is perfectly legal because of the threat of terrorists

The Administration assures us that ALL it's actions have only one goal in mind, to keep the public safe from another devastating attack like which occured on 9-11-01

Of course, that's rather hard to see being the prime purpose of one's White House tenure when one's own political strategist takes part in deliberately outing a CIA operative & her entire overseas network of double agents & contacts whose sole job was to track & disrupt the transfer of WsMD to rogue regimes, groups & individuals

It's never been pointed out exactly HOW outing Valerie Plame in a fit of political pique made this country safer, or the efforts to not only recruit overseas operatives AND disrupting the transfer of WsMD to rogue regimes, groups & individuals are now accomplished easier than before Plame was sacrificed for political purposes

Oh yeah, the main rant

When I read the article, I had a few questions form which I'd like to ask W to answer then & there

Lets set the stage for these questions so far unasked of the President

Administration Lays Out Legal Case for Wiretapping Program

The Bush administration today offered its fullest defense of the National Security Agency's domestic eavesdropping program, saying that congressional authorization to defeat Al Qaeda after the Sept. 11 attacks "places the president at the zenith of his powers in authorizing the N.S.A. activities.".....But the Bush administration appears undeterred by the criticism. In its white paper, it turned time and again to the congressional authorization of Sept. 14, 2001, even though the Congressional Research Service study was particularly skeptical of this line of defense.

And once again, who pushes the Unitary Executive concept harder right now than either Cheney or Gonzalez

Vice President Dick Cheney defended the administration's approach today in a speech before the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research in New York City.

"A spirited debate is now under way, and our message to the American people is clear and straightforward," Mr. Cheney said. "These actions are within the president's authority and responsibility under the Constitution and laws, and these actions are vital to our security."

In his appearance before the institute, Mr. Cheney defended the program as proper and legal in every respect. "The entire program undergoes a thorough review within the executive branch every 45 days," Mr. Cheney said. "After each review, the president determines once again whether or not to reauthorize the program. He has done so more than 30 times since Sept. 11, and he has indicated his intent to do so as long as our nation faces a continuing threat from Al Qaeda and related organizations."

Oh well, that's good enough for me, I mean, how can any of us NOT buy into the all-powerful and unchecked Presidential authority Cheney assures one & all is perfectly legitimate

So, here's a question Dear Leader should have to answer publicly

Do you have the authority to unilaterally postpone Presidential Elections without an okay from both the Congress & the Senate?

  • Excellent!! Should have mentioned the Google suit where the Govt. now wants to see what Americans are searching for on the net.
